Founded in 1973 under the founding ideals of “Faith, Virtue, and Love,” Pohang Daedong High School traces its roots back to the establishment of the Dongin Educational Foundation in 1968 and has since nurtured talented individuals in the region. In 1993, the school relocated to its current campus to improve the learning environment, and in 2006 it was designated as a leading school for teacher competency development, thereby strengthening its educational capacity. In 2019, it was recognized as an autonomous school by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, securing greater educational autonomy and innovation. In 2022, the school held its 48th graduation ceremony, producing 194 graduates and bringing the cumulative number of alumni to 18,560, while in 2023 it welcomed 209 new students as the 51st incoming class. Beyond academic achievement, Pohang Daedong High School has also excelled in talent and aptitude education, with its graduates contributing to the advancement of both the local community and the nation in diverse fields.

Pohang Daedong High School boasts an excellent academic record, with approximately 94.6% of its students advancing to four-year universities, placing it in the top 16% nationwide. The school operates more than 47 after-school programs, providing diverse learning opportunities tailored to students’ aptitudes and career paths, and it demonstrates strengths not only in academic achievement but also in talent and aptitude education. Guided by the motto, ‘Know the Lord, cultivate knowledge, and become a sound person who can cooperate and serve,’ the school emphasizes character development and collaboration. It has been recognized multiple times by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education as an ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Excellent’ school, affirming the quality of its curriculum and administration. Through these efforts, its graduates have gone on to contribute to the development of the local community and the nation across various fields, including politics, public service, education, and arts and culture.
