This school was founded in 1924 and was renamed "Longtan Agricultural College" in 1932. After the liberation of Taiwan, it was renamed "Hsinchu County Daxi District Longtan Intermediate Vocational Tutorial School" in 1946. In 1947, it was ordered to cease operations due to the incompatibility of the two-year academic system. After the principal and the community actively fought for the resumption of the school, the school was resumed in 1948 and changed to a three-year system. The school building was moved out of Longtan National School and temporarily used in the village assembly hall for teaching. In 1951, the current campus site was purchased. The first school building was built in 1953. In the same year, it applied to be renamed "Junior Agricultural School" and the school name was "Taoyuan County Longtan Junior Agricultural Vocational School". In 1958, it was restructured into a five-year vocational school. The name was changed to "Taoyuan County Longtan Agricultural Vocational School". In 1968, it was changed to the three-year "Taiwan Provincial Longtan Senior Agricultural Vocational School"; in 1971, the school was renamed "Taiwan Provincial Longtan Senior Agricultural and Industrial Vocational School" due to the addition of the mechanical engineering department. In 1999, it was restructured into "National Longtan Senior Agricultural and Industrial Vocational School". In August 2002, it started to operate a comprehensive high school, and in August 2008, it added comprehensive functional subjects. In September 2013, in response to school transformation, the comprehensive high school was closed and replaced with general subjects. On January 1, 2018, the school was renamed as Taoyuan Municipal Longtan Senior High School.
