Gongzheng Elementary School was the first school established in Luodong Township after World War II. The school was founded in November of 1949. The school was established to meet the need of a growing population and the increase of school-aged children of Luodong Township. Previously, Luodong elementary and Chenggong Elementary School, established during the Japanese rule, were not big enough, so local educators proposed the building of new school, Gongzheng Elementary School.
In August 1950, our school was known as Gongzheng Elementary School in Luodong area of Taipei County".
In October 1950, our name changed to "Gongzheng Elementary School in Yilan county ".
In August 1968, our name changed to "Gongzheng Elementary School in Luodong Town, Yilan County” which is still used today.
In September 1971, the special education class was founded.
In September 1984, the athletics class for talented students was founded.
In September 1985, the dance class for talented students was founded.
Now, in 2022, the school has 62 classes including the dance classes, the athletics classes, the special education classes, and a kindergarten. We have approximately 1700 students and 130 staff members. Our school is the largest school in eastern Taiwan.

Gong Jheng Elementary School is located in the center of Luodong Town, adjacent to many government agencies and tourist spots. There are about 60 classes (including preschool, special education classes and gifted classes.) Gong Jheng is the biggest elementary school in eastern Taiwan. We are a big family of 150 staff members and 1500 students. In pursuit of balanced development, we’ve spent a lot of time and effort in different fields and have won countless awards in martial art, gymnastics, dancing, language contests, string instruments and choir contests. Gong Jheng offers a comfortable environment and useful facilities and puts great emphasis on designing courses to meet the needs of students. We have a wide open playground, bright classrooms, and art galleries. Moreover, we’ve got extra classrooms for different courses. We make good use of all kinds of resources in the community and combine them with our courses. We’re also working on the promotion of international education by building up environments such as restrooms in styles of different countries, hall ways with national flags, World Window, the Eye of Gong Jheng, and the delicately decorated covered play area. We hope that we can broaden kids’ eyes by immersing them in an atmosphere full of international cultures.
